China is becoming an increasingly influential player on the world stage, both politically and in the global economy.
The realisation of this has led to an increase in interest in Chinese culture and heritage and, for example in the UK to the numbers of pupils opting to learn Mandarin while at school as the expectation grows that future job opportunities are likely to be in China and S Asia.
It is always much easier to learn a language when immersed in it and a China study tour or study camp can be a helpful taster for learning more. Study for a time in China will offer so much more than a chance to improve learning the language.
It allows students from overseas to experience the environment in which their Chinese counterparts study including visits to some of the country's best universities, and also to take in more of the country's culture and atmosphere.
This vast and ancient country has many attractions that can be sampled during a China summer tour, from the famous terracotta army and the Great Wall to Beijing's Forbidden City, created in the 15th Century by the third Ming emperor YongLe and located in the centre of Beijing. Palaces, temples and audience halls were created for the emperor to use as his metropolis.
The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses are located in Qin Shihuang, Shaanxi Province. The sculptures depict the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China and was buried with him in his mausoleum. Its purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife. The army's figures date from the 3rd century BC and were rediscovered by some local farmers in the 20th Century.

Chinese character writing is a highly evolved discipline that relies as much on artistic craftsmanship, as it does on literary composition.
